Instructors and Staff
North Andover Flight Academy instructors specialize in Robinson R22 and Robinson R44 helicopters in the Boston Mass area. We have a dedicated team of instructors and maintenance staff to meet your helicopter training needs. Our instructors follow the curriculum we have developed at our Boston helicopter school, and are also ready to assist you with either college or career goals. Our instructors fly with our chief instructor on a regular basis in an effort to maintain consistent teaching methods and ensure constant improvement.
Anthony Martinez
Anthony moved to Massachusetts from Arizona and is happy to be teaching helicopters in the Boston Massachusetts area. Anthony has experience in the Robinson R22 and R44 and will be assisting with our manuals and video productions.
Matt Macaruso
Matt is a Robinson R22 and R44 mechanic as well as a helicopter CFI. Matt is a full-time instructor who will assist out in the shop when needed. Matt is proficient in the Robinson R44 and R22.
Curt Peredina CFII
Curt was born and raised in Massachusetts. In addition to helicopter instruction and ENG, he flies Part 135 operations in a Navajo and instructs in our fixed wing aircraft here at North Andover Flight Academy. Curt has over 3500 hours total time and has also developed our Part 141 and our FITS program.
Laura McIlrath CFII
Born in the Boston area, Laura is back from spending some time in Oregon. Laura utilizes her background in teaching to help students become Robinson helicopter pilots. You will also see Laura flying tours of Boston in our Robinson R-44 helicopter.
Joe Stremel CFI
Joe is qualified in the Robinson R-22 and Robinson R-44 helicopters. Joe has experience in high altitude operations in and around the backwoods of Montana and is happy to fly up in the White Mountatins of New Hampshire.
David Cole CFII
David has over 1000 hours in Robinson R-44 and R-22 helicopters. David leads the instruction and operations at North Andover Flight Academy Maxson, New York. David also runs the ground school in Maxson. Stop in and say hello to David.
Iain Grant CFI
Iain specializes in R22 instruction, though he also flies Schweizers. As a Northern New Hampshire native, he knows the mountain area extremely well, and is more than happy to give instruction through Franconia Notch and points north.
Chris McDonald CFII
Chris hails from North Andover, and is a part-time CFII in the Robinson R-22 and R-44 helicopters here at NAFA.Chris is also a police officer for North Andover.
Dotsie Millbrandt AGI
Dotsie runs the ground school for Part 61 and 141. With her advanced ground instructor rating, Dotsie provides knowledge and dedication unmatched in the Northeast.
Dave Beach - Lead Mechanic
Dave is the driving force behind our maintenance operation and is also a commercially rated pilot. With thousands of hours helicopter flying under his belt, he flies what he fixes. Dave is the only IA in the Northeast qualified on Robinson overhaul and Robinson component overhaul. Dave's maintenance experience spans over 3 decades in the military and civilian world.
Steve Rotering
Steve is a former Army Blackhawk pilot and is also one of our maintenance technicians. Steve is working on his CFI at our school and is a great asset in the shop as well as the school.
John McGroerty
John is co-owner of North Andover Flight Academy, and has been the "behind the scenes" go to guy for every conceivable business and facility improvement. John fell in love with flying and hasn't looked back!
Tseko Vachev
