Why Train in New England
Why Train in the Boston, Massachusetts Area?
There are many reasons to train in New England, specifically the greater Boston Massachusetts area.
The weather in Boston is arguably the most diverse in the country. Some even go so far to say that it can be the worst weather in the country. From the extreme winter cold, to the oppressive summer heat, it most definitely makes up for in range what it lacks in moderation. But don't let this discourage you. New England, Boston Massachusetts, in particular, is a wonderful place to begin your helicopter flight training. And North Andover Flight Academy is the helicopter school to choose.
Our weather has it all. The summers are warm, the winters are cold, and you get to experience rain, thunderstorms (and avoiding them), snow, and wind. Boston is generally windier than the "windy city" with average windspeeds of over 12 knots. At North Andover Flight Academy, you also get to experience the maritime climate of the New Hampshire and Massachusetts coastlines and beautiful beaches.

The New England terrain is also as diverse as the weather. We are located minutes from the Class Bravo airspace which surrounds Boston, Massachusetts. Boston and the surrounding metro airspace is alive with Med Flight, News, and police helicopters. As a career helicopter pilot, training in and around a Class B airport is extremely valuable. As a student at our helicopter flight school, you train minutes from Boston. You will also have access to the White Mountains of New Hampshire. We are the only flight school in Massachusetts that is less than an hour flight time from the White Mountains. In fact, we are about 30 minutes or less from the mountains, so you can train in the mountains. We also have access to many establishements in the area so you can practice operations off airport - in the real world!
All of the above combine to make North Andover Flight Academy's location in the Greater Boston, Massachusetts Lawrence Airport the best place to learn to fly. All our instructors have been flying in this area commercially for years. We know the weather. We know the area.
